”Revenue Can Be Shared to Smaller Destinations; This is a Part of Sustainable Cruising”

Cruise Finland representatives at Cruise Europe Conference in Copenhagen

These were some of the many inspiring words that was said during the Cruise Europe Conference in Copenhagen this week.

The Cruise Finland representatives are happily landed back at home, after an exciting, motivating and educating cruise conference in beautiful Copenhagen.

Northern Lights and Green Transition: Finnish Ports at the Forefront of Cruise Industry Trends

The representatives from the Ports of Helsinki, HaminaKotka and Turku spent a productive week amongst industry leaders in the cruise industry and port representatives from all over Europe and the UK, talking about current topics as safety, security, green transition, EU funding and regulations, cruise trends, geopolitical challenges and. itinerary planning. For the representatives of the smaller cruise ports the panel discussion regarding challenges and opportunities for small ports was especially fascinating, since in addition to our lovely capital, the city of Helsinki, Cruise Finland includes several small and “off the beaten track” ports and destinations, also in the exotic Bay of Bothnia. Northern lights, gastronomy and nature experiences were mentioned several times, which are all the strength of our region and charming destinations.

The outcome of the week was that we are certainly focusing on the right things in what we are doing in the Cruise Finland community, focusing on our unique selling points, our authenticity, nature and human interactions.

Copenhagen Hosts Pioneering Talks on Green Transition and Sustainable Cruise Travel

Our common values were reassured during the last day of the conference when a political cruise meeting was held at the historical City Hall of Copenhagen where politicians from different destinations participated in the conversation regarding the challenges in the green transition. Amongst the speakers was for example experts like Heino Nau, International Blue Economy DG Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, European Commission and Jens-Kristian Lütken, Mayor of Employment and Integration of the city of Copenhagen and environmental engineer PhD Kaare Press-Kristensen from Green Global Future.  Our region is a definite frontrunner when it comes to sustainable travelling and development, and we are definitely devoted and committed to continue on that path.
