MS Hamburg Opened the Cruise Season in Mariehamn

The First Call of the Season to Mariehamn

The first call of the season to Mariehamn was made yesterday with the arrival of MS Hamburg. The cruise ship carried a maximum of 355 passengers, mostly from Germany, but onboard were also guests from Austria and France.

The cruise guests took part in excursions around the Åland islands, and visited, among others, the historic ruins of the tower of Notviken of the fortress Bomarsund. The fortress was built by the Russians in the 1840s and destroyed by the French-Bristish allies in 1854. The Bomarsund fortress is one of the main historical sites on the Åland islands. The guests also visited Åland’s Hunting and Fishing Museum in Eckerö.
